The switch from Bilstein touring absorbers (black colour) to Koni sports
adjustables have definitely improved the ride quality of my car. It is no longer
as bouncy. It took a few weeks and a few tries to adjust the rebound on the Koni
to the setting I am comfortable with. The car is my daily drive so comfort is
more important than handling. However, having said that, I know it will never be
as comfortable as stock suspension.
When the Koni absorbers were initially installed, I had them adjusted to the
softest settings. After driving for a week, I had them adjusted to maximum
stiffnest to compare the difference. I drove the car for another week. The
difference was very obvious. On the softest setting, the ride is on the soft
side; but at full stiff, the ride was too firm and very harsh. So I adjusted them
to the middle point - between full soft and firm. I will probably do further
adjustments to get more comfort because the ride is still stiffer than what I
would like. It is easy adjusting the fronts using the Koni supplied knob but
getting to the rear absorbers is troublesome - so they will most likely be left
as is.
